  Aluminum composite panels (ACPs), a new type of decorative material, are composed of chemically treated coated aluminum sheets as the outer layer, with polyethylene plastic or high-mineral core material, processed on ACP manufacturing equipment. Aluminum Composite Panels are overcome the shortcomings of the original materials, such as colorful decoration, weather resistance, corrosion resistance, impact resistance, easy processing and shaping, and ease of handling and installation. As a result, aluminum composite panels are widely used in various aspects of architectural decoration.

Material Properties and Features:

Aluminum composite panels have been widely used in domestic since their introduction from Germany in the late 1980s and early 1990s. They quickly became popular due to their affordability, variety, ease of construction, processing, and excellent fire resistance. 

The properties are as follows:

1. High peel strength: ACPs use a new technology that enhances the key technical indicator - peel strength - to an optimal state, improving flatness and weather resistance.

2. Lightweight and easy to process: Each square meter of ACP weighs only about 3.5 to 5.5 kg, making it easy to handle and offering superior constructability using simple carpentry tools for cutting, trimming, and creating various shapes. It can also be cold bent, folded, and rolled, and can be attached using rivets, screws, or adhesives, which simplifies installation and reduces construction costs.

3. Impact resistance: Strong impact resistance, high toughness, bending without damaging the paint, and robust impact strength ensure durability.

4. Weather resistance: The use of PVDF fluorocarbon paint provides unique advantages in weather resistance, maintaining a beautiful appearance whether under hot sun or cold snow.

5. Even coating and diverse colors: The use of chromate processing and Henkel film technology ensures even adhesion between paint and the ACPs, offering a variety of colors.

6. Fire-Resistance: The core material in ACPs is flame-retardant PE plastic, and the aluminum layers on both sides are highly fire-resistant, making it a safe fireproof material that meets the fire resistance requirements of building regulations.

Product Process and Classification 

  There are many types of aluminum composite panels, and as a new material, there is still no unified classification method. They are usually classified according to product function, surface decoration effect, and application.

1. By product function: a. Fire-resistant panels: Use flame-retardant core materials, reaching flame-retardant (B1 level) or non-combustible (A level). b. Anti-static ACPs: Coated with anti-static paint, thus reducing static electricity and preventing dust from adhering to the surface.

2. By surface decoration effect: a. Coated decorative ACPs: Various decorative coatings applied on the aluminum surface, commonly including fluorocarbon, polyester, and acrylic coatings. b. Anodized color ACPs: Anodized aluminum alloy panels available in colors like red and bronze. c. Film-laminated ACPs: Colorful films are bonded to primed aluminum sheets or directly to degreased aluminum sheets using adhesives. d. Color-printed ACPs: Different patterns are printed using printing technology on transfer papers to reproduce various natural patterns on ACPs through heat transfer technology. e. Brushed ACPs: Aluminum alloy panels are brushed to create common effects like gold and silver. f. Mirror ACPs: Aluminum alloy panels are polished to achieve a mirror-like effect.

Installation Tips 

  ACP wall installations primarily use two methods: adhesive bonding and dry hanging:

· Adhesive bonding is suitable for indoors: Install the frame -> Install the base panel -> Adhere the ACP to the base panel with universal adhesive -> Seal joints with silicone -> Remove protective film -> Complete. (Note: Exterior wall base panels must be waterproof, and the silicone must be weather-resistant).

· Dry hanging is suitable for exterior walls: Weld the basic framework (angle iron or square tubing) -> Fold the edges of the ACPs to install corner brackets or hooks (angle aluminum or specialized accessories) -> Fix the ACPs to the framework with screws -> Install sealing strips in the joints -> Apply silicone -> Remove protective film -> Complete. (Note: Exterior wall silicone must be weather-resistant).
